So far five people (which includes myself) have expressed an interest in club membership. However, one prospect does not have a private pilot license but would be interested in earning it through the club. After expressing interest one other prospect reported a change in circumstances that required postponing any decision to join for at least a couple months.
At the moment the holidays and winter weather seem to suggest a formal start be done no sooner than January or February. In the mean time I will compose and publish drafts of Articles of Incorporation, Bylaws, Aircraft Operating Rules, and few miscellaneous support documents. They’ll be for review by anyone who wishes to wade into them. Then I’ll be pestering prospective members to become members of the board of directors and officers of the non-profit. The salary starts at zero and goes down from there. Fortunately the duties will be modest. Both the state of South Dakota and the IRS require a minimum of three board members for a non-profit, hence the need to press founding members to fill some official roles.
